Cantallini Chamber Choir has enjoyed exploring Haydn’s late choral masses, his masterpieces written when the composer returned to the Esterhazy Palace after his great success in London writing symphonies. The contented work of his old age, these masses were written once a year for the Emperor’s wife Josepha Hezmengild name day. We now reach his final masterpiece, performed in 1802 when the composer was already 70 years. This grand piece includes a large band of wind instruments to complement the voices.

We are pleased once again to join forces with the charismatic period instrument orchestra, Amade Players, who also present one of Mozart’s tuneful and entertaining horn concertos.
We also have a close relationship with Cecilia McDowall, having presented her choral composition ‘Nightflight’ with solo cello. The Three Shakespeare Songs were written as recently 2015 for the BBC Singers. We present them alongside Vaughan Williams’ songs.
